Block Kids Lego Challenge
There doesn’t seem to be a shortage of boys that love Legos and that was quite apparent at the Block Kids 2012 Lego Challenge this past December 1, 2012. Quite a few of our Pack 617 cub scouts attended this fun day organized by the National Associate of Women in Construction San Diego Chapter 21 and hosted by Associated Builders and Contractors, San Diego. The boys were given the challenge to take 80 Lego® Bricks, a rock, string and a square foot of tinfoil and craft something in 45 minutes that focused on construction. By the end of the 45 minutes, 27 kids had created everything from cranes to bridges to whole construction sites. The six judges interviewed every child and by the end of the competition, Cub Scout Pack 617 came out on top. Garrett from out Bear Den who walked away with 1st place will move on to the regional semi-finals. Congrats to all our scouts and how they up held great sportsmanship and displayed respect to the judges and other kids that participated.
